America's longtime sweetheart, Meg Ryan, is returning to the place where it all began: television.
The 55-year-old actress will star in a new half-hour comedy series on Epix, "Picture Paris." The show chronicles the adventures of an American who leaves behind the suburbs to live in the French capital, only to discover it's not quite as dreamy as she imagined.
"Picture Paris" is based on former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Brad Hall's 2012 short film for HBO, which starred his famous wife, Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Hall will write and direct the series.
Ryan was a cast member in the daily soap opera "As the World Turns" and popped up in a few prime-time TV roles in the 1980s before her movie career took off with "Top Gun" in 1986. She quickly endeared herself to the masses in popular romantic comedies like "When Harry Met Sally…," "Sleepless in Seattle" and "You've Got Mail."
