Holiday Happy Hours

If you're looking for cocktail inspiration for your next holiday party, here are three food and drink blogs that will have you clinking glasses and refreshing your drinks often.

1. Stir and Strain Elana Lepkowski writes about cocktails from her home in Los Angeles. The site is sumptuously shot and loaded with easy-to-make drinks. Cocktail to try: In celebration of the day Prohibition was repealed (December 5, 1933), Lepkowski offers up a Rusty Rickey, her take on the classic Gin Rickey. Also try the sparkling, spiced winter sangria (pictured).

2. The Boys Club Co-founders Brian Samuels and Russell van Kraayenburg have created a blog that closely resembles a high-end men's magazine (think GQ or Esquire). While you scroll through the long list of cocktails, don't forget to check out the food section for some excellent seasonal recipes. Cocktail to try: Nutmeg and Mandarin infused brandy (pictured above). Try it instead of eggnog this year.

3. Gastronomista New York-based Emily Arden Wells is an architect by day and blogger by night. While primarily a food site (featuring the great tag line "Eat Like a Girl"), it was the innovative cocktails that caught our eye. Cocktail to try: The Smokey Old Mate. The best thing about this drink recipe is learning how to make your own smoked liquor, which turns out to be cheap and easy. — Cerentha Harris
