Carol Burnett revisits her old studio and 11 seasons of TV memories on "The Carol Burnett 50thAnniversary Special," a two-hour retrospective airing Sunday at 8 p.m. on CBS.
The golden anniversary celebration was filmed at CBS Television City in Los Angeles, where Burnett's Emmy Award-winning variety show was staged from 1967 to 1978.
Original cast members Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner will be on hand, along with a parade of special guests like Jim Carrey, Stephen Colbert, Jay Leno and Bernadette Peters.
"We all loved each other very much," Burnett, 84, says of her sketch mates, including Tim Conway and the late Harvey Korman. "Whatever you saw on the screen that's what we were—tenfold."
Burnett will look back at memorable highlights and answer audience questions. Fifty years later, she's still so glad to have this time together.
"Time has a funny way of changing," Burnett tells the Los Angeles Times. "When you're young, it never goes fast enough, and when you get older, it's a blink of an eye. Where did it go?"
