Google Flights of Fancy ... or Not

Google Flights is a bare-bones, ad-free flight finder that offers the best deals available on the web. The landing page consists of an auto-populated departure box (yes, Google knows where you live), a map of the U.S. with dollar amounts marking major cities so you can see at a glance how much it costs to fly all over the country. Just type in your destination and dates and a bunch of flight choices appear in a drop-down menu. Done. Greyed-out menu choices let you add more detail — time of flight, price range, etc. The search is fast and efficient, thanks to Google's 2010 purchase of ITA — the software company that powered Obitz and Kayak. — Cerentha Harris
