Easy Tweet

Twitter is making an effort to become more accessible to new users. Traditionally, your Twitter feed populates with tweets from individuals that you follow. That means that when you're a newbie (presumably following only a few people to begin with), your feed is rather anemic—a problem that Twitter is taking steps to rectify. A new feature called Instant Timeline scans your phone contact list when you open a Twitter account. It finds those contacts who have Twitter and analyzes who they follow. Your feed is then populated with tweets from accounts that your friends follow, generating a substantial stream of tweets straight out the gate. Currently, Instant Timeline is available only to a small percent of Android users. —Michael Dukas
